With an incredible rendition of ‘Chandelier,’ Jordan Smith was the obvious standout on the Season 9 premiere of ‘The Voice.’ But it’s already clear that Jordan has SO much more to offer than just powerfulvocals, and this is sure to take him far in the competition.
Only one episode of The Voice has aired, but there’s already a major frontrunner. Jordan Smith absolutely wowed the coaches, audience and viewers by singing Sia’s “Chandelier” for his blind audition, but it’s his personality and composure that really put him over-the-top as a contender.
During Jordan’s audition, producers let the viewers play along by not showing his face as he belted out the beginning of the song. We didn’t even get to see a package detailing Jordan’s backstory, but I still found myself more interested in him than any other contestant of the night. Of course, a big part of that was that he looked NOTHING like he sounded, as the judges pointed out, but in general, it was because of how mesmerizing he was to watch.
