In a report, Police Chief Inspector Billy Mangali, Solano town police chief, said the driver, Michael Angelo Santos, a resident of nearby Bayombong town, was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
Mangali said the “spare” driver told police that the bus driver allegedly tried to avoid hitting another vehicle but lost control of the wheels and crashed in a roadside.
The driver was reportedly driving fast when the crash happened.
The commuter bus was bound from Sampaloc, Manila to Maddela town in Quirino province.
All the 25 passengers suffered minor injuries and is now being treated, Mangali said.
Police have released the name of the passengers: Danilo Nolledo, the spare driver, 62; Wilmar Ngayan, the fare collector (conductor), 26 ; Crytel Mae Pagawisan, 23; Crisanto Pagawisan, 26 ; Prince Carl Pagawisan, male, 3; Ernesto Acierto, 56; Elivira Tablang; Maricel Abad, 25; Noel Bareng, 43; Florante Abadilla, 47; Jaylord Badongen, 23; Shirlyn Del Carmen, 38; Hilaria Narag, 65; Reyma Molabe y Domingo, 17; Andres Cardo, 16; Paul Valino, 17 ; Alyssa Ylanan, 17 ; Jeremy Aplasan, 18; Kendale Gaffud, 17; Glechell Gaffud , 28 ; Marina Macadangdang 56 years old; Romulo Uy, 26; Rodelyn Bello, 35 ; Cristopher Dias, 32; Justine Danao, 7; Joenald Agbayani, 46 and Rubin Maranion, 62.
Meanwhile, Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative (Nuvelco) also reported that the bus hit one of their electric posts, causing power outage in the towns of Solano, Bagabag and Diadi.
They said that they will start working on the restoration of power after the bus is cleared from the accident area.
